Even during the dramatic slowdown of the world’s financial markets, investment funds managed by Ansher Fund Management with the focus on Central Asia & Caucasus have grown on average by 10%. What are the latest developments in these markets, and what investors should expect? Veronika Novikova, Editor of the Analytical Banking Magazine, has an interview with Mr. Anvar Rasulev, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Ansher Holding Limited.

Ansher Holding has expanded from its roots as the first western-style investment bank in Uzbekistan, to become a multinational player, with offices in Singapore, UK, Switzerland, UAE and elsewhere, and a diversified pool of product offerings. On October 29, 2008 HedgeCo Networks, a premier hedge fund database and community for qualified and accredited investors, published an article on Ansher Fund Management’s achievements in the region.

Banking stocks are among the most attractive in central Asia at present with the industry set for strong growth in the years ahead, Ravshan Yunusov of Ansher Fund Management said. Yunusov, who manages the Ansher Regional Equity Fund, has 19 percent of his portfolio in bank stocks, the fund’s largest sector exposure.

On October 27, 2008, Reuters information Agency published an interview with Ravshan Yunusov and Pascal Buschor on Central Asia investment attractiveness from a fund’s view.

Private banking is not an entirely new product for the EMEA region. The very wealthy in the Gulf and Russia, in particular, have been using private banks in Switzerland and London for some years. But things are changing now, in two ways. First, capital that used to leave emerging markets and head to offshore centres like London and Geneva is coming home, and coming onshore. And second, as a result, new local players are rising in the CIS and Middle East, and are competing with traditional western private banks.

In effort to improve the efficiency of Ansher Fund Management, Board of Directors of Ansher Holding Limited adopted the Resolution to dismiss Mr. Alisher Djumanov from position of Managing Partner of Ansher Fund Management as of December 30, 2007. Based on the same Resolution, Mr. Alisher Djumanov was dismissed from the position of Deputy Chairman of the Board of Directors of Ansher Group AG.
 

The business-seminar on “The role of investment funds in the development of securities market and economy of Central Asia” was organized by the National Association of Investment Institutions (NAII) and Ansher Fund Management Company at the Grand Mir Hotel on 26 October this year.
